In the CPD session “Understanding Refugee Claims and Seeking Asylum in Canada,” participants will aim to achieve concise yet comprehensive learning objectives. They will acquire a clear understanding of the refugee claim process in Canada, including the legal definitions and categories under IRPA. Participants will learn about the Non-Comparative Approach in refugee claims, explore complex cases and exceptions, particularly in relation to the Safe Third Country Agreement, and gain insights into crafting effective refugee narratives. Additionally, they will be updated on IRCC’s online asylum application process and recent legal changes impacting refugee claims. The session will enhance their practical application skills through case study analysis and interactive Q&A.
